This week on 55………
We have new uni’s to talk about again for the second straight week, these as hated as last weeks were loved. We have a triumphs and let downs. We will talk about Teddys first start in the NFL. The victory over Wake and the smothering defense. The new Louisville Slugger Gerod Holliman and much more. So sit down, buckle up and enjoy the ride. These are the 55 most intriguing, ridiculous or down right best or worst things I have heard this week. This…is….55
1)
2) Well there’s an image for you and an overall description for what our defense did on Saturday. We knocked out Wake. giving up -22 yards rushing to go along with 8 sacks and 4 INT’s, our defense kept us in the game and won the game as far as I am concerned. Holliman, Burgess and Rankins recorded Interceptions. Lozo got 3 of the 8 sacks. On offense the rookie QB looked shaky at times but when he started feeding the beast Brandon Radcliff (130 yds 2 TD) , he seemed to run the offense more fluently. Moving forward we have to take care of the ball better. 4 fumbles vs Wake is unacceptable but I think that will improve with reps for Reggie. Also stop the penalties now please….signed all of Football. The Cards take on Syracuse at the Carrier Dome Friday night.
3)
4) They started calling Calvin Pryor that this pre season, maybe it will catch on for Gerod. Once only known for his earth shattering hit, Holliman has come full circle. With his 6th INT of the season Saturday he is currently #1 in the country and just 4 away from tying UofL’s single season record. Anthony Floyd had 10 in one season and 18 overall which is also a record.
5) Teddy Bridgewater got his first NFL start yesterday…..
6)
7) Pretty cool graphic by Nick Stover and the social media team
8) Teddy flourished Sunday in his first start throwing for 317 yards and had a rushing TD before getting injured late in the game. X-rays came back negative and it sounds like he will be ready to do battle vs GB this week at Lambeau.
9)
10) and we shall….Congrats Teddy #LegendTeddy
11) #JerseyGate2014
12) What ever they make, there is no way they will be as bad as South Florida’s swimming trunk jerseys last year!!! hahahahhaha
13)
14) Umm…..Well…..ok then..My bad.
15) On the bright side I will say as long as we play good we can go out in tin foil jerseys and I could care less. I think with the reveal of the Showtime Football jerseys last week maybe we were expecting too much. Hey…I’m trying here.
16) Also this was put up this week
17)
18) I can’t wait to see the other new banners put up…..
19) They took down the championship banner on 65N last week which made me angry as I thought it would remain forever….
20) Between that and the silos I am not having a good reaction to change as of late
21) Moving forward
22)
23) Definitely the tweet of the week….lol
24) Lets see what the rest of Cardinal Athletics did this week
25) Women’s Golf finished 5th in the Golfweek challenge with a 7 over par score, they will have the week off this week before heading to NC on the 10th
26) Field Hockey had a roller coaster week. They defeated THE Ohio State here at Trager and #16 Wake on the road. They then went off and got upset 2-1 by Liberty. They have 2 massive games at home this week vs #5 Duke Friday and Sunday vs #14 Michigan. After that it only gets easier as they face #6 BC and #10 Syracuse….ouch. They are in the midst of a stretch were they play 9/11 vs top 20 teams. No worries, we got this.
27) Can you imagine being in a conference where everyone is ranked and you are the newcomer? Good luck girls!
28) Men’s Soccer tries to add-on to a 4 game win streak when they face Ohio State tomorrow. The Cards knocked off uk 2-1 and Pitt 4-1. The match tomorrow has been officially deemed International Night. You can read more here. The Cards also play at NC State this week.
29) Remember last week when I said I disliked the Women’s soccer team because they were going to Florida for the weekend? I’m sorry girls. The Women’s team got trounced 6-0 by FSU and played to a 1-1 OT tie at Miami. The Cards will be back in action and on my good side on Saturday when they host Duke.
30) Women’s Volleyball hosted a pair of ACC foes at the YUM last week and recorded their first ever ACC win when they defeated Georgia Tech yesterday 3-2. The team lost their inaugural match to BC 3-2. The Volleyball team is back in action Friday as they take a weekend trip to Virginia to face Virginia Tech then play Virginia on Sunday. The ACC Volleyball is proving to be the best conference we have played in and will take a while to get use to the top matches week in and out. Kinda like the Big East BBall schedule a few years ago.
31) The Women’s Tennis team went 5-3 in both doubles and singles at the University of Notre Dame Invitational. Miss the days of Fellerhoff and Shine but we have great newcomers and the team seems to be off to a good start in the pre season portion of their schedule.
32) Alex Gornet of the Men’s Tennis team falls in the pre-qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships yesterday.
33) After finishing 6th in the ACC/sec challenge, the Men’s golf team go back into action today in the Cardinal Invitational in Simpsonville. Live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com, at this moment the Cards sit in 4th place.
34) Swimming and Diving will hold their Intrasquad meet this Friday
35) Rowing starts this weekend as the upstart Cards will host the Red & Black Regatta this weekend. It is the only home meet of the season.
36) After defeating Wake Forest 20-10, the Cards travel to the Carrier Dome to play a Syracuse team they haven’t had much luck against in New York. It is a Friday game that will be carried on ESPN at 7pm
37) That has been your week in Cardinal Athletics
38) Charles Gaines has been the latest Louisville Cardinal to join in on the Twitter craze. You can follow the guy who runs with animals at @Clgain02
39) Make sure you go and check out CSZ’s photo gallery of the Wake game here. CSZ contributor and Birds nest Designs CEO (I assume) Tim Haag took the field and once again provided us with awesome pics. Go check them out.
40) All of the sudden, everyone thinks they are a photographer…ahem…cough cough….Stephen Garr

42)
43) Good ol Steve….lol.

45) I digress
46)
47) As you can see, those of you that want somewhere to go watch the game Friday can meet Russ up at 4th Street Live! and there will be a meet and great.
48) Another favorite of mine for tweet of the week:
49) I was convinced I had to go out and buy FIFA 15. Me and my buddy played one game and were bored by half. We agreed to turn the difficulty up one level to see if it would get more difficult seeing we had just won 41-0. Changed the difficulty, lost 8-1 (They had an own goal) and returned it first thing in the morning. I will never be persuaded again!!!!
50) Until the next time of course.
51) On Thursday we found out that Perry Dozier has set up his official visit to Louisville. Justin tells you when here
52) Steve tells us here that Traveon Samuel will enroll early. Good news for CardNation.
53) Got my ND Football trip about wrapped up. Thanks to my Uncle Mark (ND fan) for the super awesome season ticket seats that have been in my family over 70 years. Crazy.
54) ****BREAKING NEWS**** Teddy’s MRI JUST came back and he is cleared for Thursday vs GB!
55) Lastly, Congrats out to the romance in the air in BloggerNation. Mark Blankenbaker (@UofLSheriff50) Mike Rutherford (@CardChronicle) have already gotten married this football season and my brother from another mother Steve Rummage (@Stiz_CSZ) is about to make the mistake..er jump in just over a month. Congrats guys! Until next time CardNation, this was 55………
